On the road again

My adventure across the country was definitely noteworthy. Thursday night, I packed my life in my car and we were off. I got tired early. It was a long 40 hours.

We spent the night in St. Louis. It was a beautiful up and coming city. Not exactly my place, but it was a great experience. I love traveling and seeing new places.

The second day was the worst day. We ended up driving straight from St. Louis to New Mexico. Oklahoma was the longest state I’ve ever driven through. It was such a different place compared to the east coast.

My favorite place was New Mexico and Arizona. The mountains, rocks, scenery was breathtaking. I’d love to explore Arizona again. I usually don’t like mountainous areas but driving through all of the ranges was like no other. It’s something you need to do once in your life.

The trek through the deserts of Arizona and California was torture but the second I saw the coastline, I was in love.

The first night here I explored out to Newport and Laguna. It’s picturesque. We spent the day in Los Angeles yesterday. It’s different than New York City completely. It’s so laid back and spread out. I could definitely get used to this.

Today, I became an official California resident. After 4 hours, too much money and a permit test at the DMV, it was finally over! It feels great and weird at the same time honestly. Right after the DMV, I signed my first apartment lease. It was a day of adulthood. I also had my first (and extremely successful) Ikea experience. It was stressful but worth it.

Tomorrow I plan to relax and enjoy the time with my family. It’s their last full day here with me before I move in this weekend. I’m grateful that they’ve been able to be here with me through all of this.

T-Minus 2 Days

Back in April, my dreams came true when I was accepted into law school. It was even more magically when I had the option to move to Southern California as well. I’ve lived on the East Coast for my entire life. I actually haven’t really ventured out further than New York for an extended period of time in my 23 (almost 24) years. But, one spring break 4 years ago made me fall in love with California. It’s been my dream to move there ever since. Now, in 2 days, I’ll be packing up my car and heading West.

Driving across country is a once in a lifetime opportunity. I wanted to capture every moment of my trip and my move. Being 2,968 miles away from my family isn’t going to be easy but I’m ready to take on the world right now. I’m full of confidence and ready to start my so-called ‘real’ life.

First stop is going to be an overnight stay in St. Louis. We’ll be passing through Ohio, West Virginia, Illinois, and Indiana before getting into Missouri. I can smell the adventure already! Ready or not, here I come West Coast, and I’m planning on taking over.
